Cassidy Gestrin (she/her) is a musician and filmmaker whose artistic journey is rooted in a lifelong love of music and storytelling. Having studied music throughout her childhood, Cassidy’s passion for singing has led her to perform with groups such as Tzo’kam and M’Girl, and to collaborate on recordings with artists including Lisa Donahey, Chris Gestrin, Russel Wallace, and Renae Morriseau. With over a decade of choral experience, she also mentored younger choirs and served as an Indigenous Youth Mentor with the Vancouver Youth Choir’s Kindred Program.
In addition to her work in music, Cassidy has developed a strong voice as a filmmaker. Her love for film began in childhood, creating home films with her family. A background in stagecraft and stage management during high school inspired her to pursue filmmaking at the post-secondary level. Now a third-year Film student at Capilano University, Cassidy has experience in acting, directing, assistant directing, and camera, as well as a year of professional experience as a social media manager and content creator.
Through both music and film, Cassidy is dedicated to creating meaningful connections, sharing stories, and uplifting Indigenous voices.
