Renae Morriseau

Renae is a Cree/Anishinaabe, multifaceted, intertribal artist involved in music, theatre, film, and television across Turtle Island. Through her community-oriented art practices, she has dedicated herself to sharing Indigenous stories that transcend resilience, fostering actionable hope.

She has been the manager and vocalist for M’Girl Music for almost two decades. Her compositions are featured in films such as Broken Angel (2022), Angela’s Shadow (2024), as well as in Public Service Announcements (2020) and in theatrical productions like The Secret to Good Tea (2025), White Noise (2023), and Weaving Reconciliation (2017).

Moreover, Renae has directed documentary television programming, including Down2Earth (2014) and Quest Out West (2023, 2024), for its second and third seasons.

Recently, she finished writing her debut feature film and is exploring the steps for its production.

Renae completed hosting Kokum and Dot, a children’s web and television series that teaches the Cree/Nêhiyawi language.

Currently, Renae is an instructor in the Indigenous Digital Film Program at Capilano University.
